Welcome to Osprey Resource Management! I’m Kirk Sehlmeyer, an SAF Certified Forester, and I’ve been immersed in forestry and natural resource management since 2010 across both the public and private sectors. After graduating from Ohio State, I moved to Sandpoint, Idaho in 2012 to start my career as a forester with the USDA. In 2020, driven by a vision to bring high-level, hands-on land stewardship directly to private landowners, I founded Osprey Resource Management.

Why I Do What I Do

Simply put: I’m living my dream. I am passionate about protecting and improving our forests, working lands, and private acreage. I’m endlessly fascinated by the intricate relationships within our local ecosystems: how plants, soil, wildlife, and fungi depend on one another to thrive. My goal with every property isn't just to maintain the land, but to design management systems that restore forest health, lower fire risks, and enhance long-term value.

The absolute highlight of my work? The people. I’ve had the privilege of walking acreage with incredible landowners across the Northwest, helping them bring out the very best in their corner of the world.

Life Beyond the Canopy

When I’m not out in the woods working with landowners, you’ll still find me outdoors:backpacking, fly fishing, or hunting for wild mushrooms in the mountains.

Every winter, I recharge by chasing the sunshine through Central and South America. These extended travels allow me to immerse myself in local cultures, improve my Spanish, study regional history, and even fish for piranha in the Amazon. Traveling keeps me grounded, curious, and fully energized to return each spring ready to help landowners steward their forestland.
